Installation
How above ground pool installation works
A real steel-wall or resin pool is a build, not a set-up-in-an-afternoon job. Here's exactly what a licensed installer does, start to finish, so you know what you're paying for.
1. Site walk & measurement
The installer checks your chosen spot for slope, drainage, access, and what's underground, then confirms the pool will fit with room to work around it.
2. Leveling & grading
The high side is cut down to a true level pad. This is the make-or-break step — a pad off by even an inch or two stresses the wall and wrinkles the liner. More on leveling →
3. Base & cove
A leveled sand base or foam pad goes down, with a cove around the inside edge so the liner seats correctly and the floor feels smooth.
4. Wall, track & liner
The bottom track is set dead level, the wall is rolled and secured, and the liner is fitted and smoothed so there are no wrinkles once water goes in.
5. Pump, filter & electrical
The pump and filter are plumbed and the electrical and bonding are handled to California code — the part you don't want a handyman guessing at.
6. Fill & first-day water
You fill the pool (see the calculator for gallons and time), and you get clear guidance on balancing the water for the first two weeks.
